Running to Win...
Let us all acknowledge the accomplishments of our fellow citizens. For never before in the history of the world has such a small minority taken over the culture of the super-majority with such skill and precision. Against all odds, less than 2% of our population has transformed the culture. Patiently and shrewdly, atheists have moved forward in their quest... with the super-majority never even suspecting anything. In fact, many self-proclaimed theists have only sympathized with the concern and compassion the atheists have so fervently claimed as their driving rationale.
And so, we are now in a post Christian era... the principles that birthed our nation casually put aside, without even a whimper. Of course, the ultimate outcome is not yet at hand, as we will see how such cherished "rights" remain when the "Source" of these rights has been deemed out-of-bounds, even abolished? Moreover, how will virtue endure when "self-evident truths" are no longer acknowledged... for today, all ideas are equal to all others. Of course, this is a nonsensical proposition, but think of the genius and cunning of the atheists who were able to make 2 + 2 = 5 as good as 2 + 2 = 4. Yes, they were able to replace our founding charter of "all men are Created equal" with "all ideas are equal" with so few even realizing the difference. It really is a stunning accomplishment.
And so, we must salute the dedication and persistence inherent in this atheistic triumph. Of course, I do ponder how people who supposedly do not believe in a greater meta-narrative could be so inspired to work so hard in this endeavor. If there is no higher Wisdom and Purpose, why exactly does any of this even matter? Is it a mere personal sense of accomplishment in this meaningless sliver of life now slipping through our collective fingers? Yes, there would surely have to be something more as a root motivator... but nonetheless, we must still stand in awe of this astonishing success story.
So, what about the roughly 95% of America's citizenry who claim to believe in "God"... a Maker... a Creator... an ultimate Authority? In America, well over 80% refer to themselves as "Christians." As I understand it, "Christians" believe that Jesus was Grace and Truth walking among us... God entering our world to bring us back to Himself. There is a record of this man... primarily found in a collection of books called The Bible... more specifically in four books called The Gospels... found in the beginning of the section of The Bible called the New Testament. I am being specific on the location of this information, as I'm wondering if it is being read. Clearly, it is either an unknown or it is simply being ignored. What else could it be? Or... is this Eternal Truth simply inert? As Patrick Henry would remind us, "Forbid it, Almighty God!" In the first book of this New Testament (Matthew), there is an interesting teaching in what is designated as Chapter 5:
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its savor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a lampstand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
So, how well have the 80% been salt and light in the world? There is perhaps no better way of measuring than by examining America's public school system... where roughly 95% of our nation's children spend 13 years. Do "we the people" realize that these schools (wherein 95% of the funding comes from theists), the students are not allowed to even ponder publicly (and certainly not speak) within the paradigm that America's Founders used to birth our nation? Moreover, the students are constantly taught the relativism that is the natural by-product of a world that came into existence only by random chance. As if someone actually filmed all of this, it is presented to students that humans evolved out a slime pool billions of years ago for no particular reason... went through an elaborate evolutionary process... only to ultimately discover (after every remarkable human achievement!) that there is no ultimate purpose for our existence.
And yet, it is people like me who are routinely proclaimed to be "extremists" when we merely point out that such thinking is not historical nor scientific; in fact, it is not even coherent. Moreover, we are the ones deemed "intolerant" when we do not want to have our children (and all children!) indoctrinated with such nonsense... not to mention the stripping away of the principles of our Founding Declaration as well as the First Amendment rights so clearly enshrined in our Constitution. (BTW, if there are some who would like to publicly debate me in these matters, I will most gladly provide them the opportunity.)
So, what should the 95% do? For starters, read the Good News... for there remains a healing balm in Gilead! More directly, sincerely ask ourselves what we should be doing within the greater culture. Lastly, I ask that "we the people" consider the "Foundations of Liberty Act" (attached below). After all, what does it mean to be the salt of the earth... the light of the world? There is much to do: Countless millions of impressionable young people are needing salt and light... and all of the Goodness that will subsequently be given birth.
Jesus cried out to a dead man in his tomb, “Lazarus, come out!” And Lazarus rose from the dead! Jesus is calling to dead hearts in our world today, "Rise!" https://www.change.org/p/united-states-congress-alabama-6th-district?recruiter=22638442&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=share_petition&utm_term=share_petition
